Foil wings, also known as wingsurfers or surf wings, are not a new invention. The concept was experimented with by veteran windsurfers as early as the late eighties. Developer Tom Magruder introduced his "Wind Weapon" around 1986. However, the experience of riding with wings on conventional boards was somewhat limited until the advent of modern foil technology.
